Com a expansão das tecnologias digitais, violências como o bullying e o assédio moral ganharam um novo palco de alcance praticamente infinito: a internet. E o que antes ficava restrito ao ambiente escolar ou a outros espaços geograficamente limitados agora pode fazer vítimas a qualquer hora e lugar — ao alcance de apenas alguns cliques. O Brasil está em 2o lugar no ranking global de ofensas na internet. Três em cada 10 pais brasileiros relataram ao instituto IPSOS que seus filhos foram vítimas de bullying virtual, também conhecido como cyberbullying. Dia sim e outro também casos de difamação e de destruição de reputações viram notícia. A internet se tornou uma espécie de tribunal virtual que profere execuções sumárias — e a contagem de corpos, sejam eles físicos ou simbólicos, segue. Transtornos como a depressão e a ansiedade e, no limite, casos de suicídio, têm aumentado em decorrência de bullying virtual. Por isso, mais do que importante, é urgente debater a violência na rede.
Esse episódio especial faz parte do projeto “Violência na Internet”, do O Povo Online (@opovoonline), e tem o apoio institucional da Prefeitura Municipal de Fortaleza (@prefeiturafortalezavoce), a quem a gente agradece a iniciativa de estimular o debate público sobre o cyberbullying. Logo logo, o projeto “Violência na Internet” terá também um especial no portal O Povo Online, além de um evento no Espaço O POVO de Cultura & Arte, que acontecerá agora no mês de dezembro.
