Em sua 28ª edição, o Prêmio Camões foi entregue, na última segunda-feira, 30, ao escritor brasileiro Raduan Nassar, 80, autor de três títulos: Lavoura Arcaica (1975), Um Copo de Cólera (1978) e Menina a Caminho (1994). O vencedor é descendente de libaneses e começou a escrever nos anos 70.
Com a conquista, o Brasil ultrapassa Portugal e fica na liderança, com 12 títulos. De acordo com o júri, a “extraordinária qualidade da sua linguagem” e a “força poética da sua prosa” foram os motivos que deram o prêmio a Nassar.
Prêmio
O Prêmio Camões foi criado por Portugal e Brasil em 1988, tendo sua primeira edição realizada em 1989. De lá para cá, portugueses, brasileiros, angolanos, moçambicanos e cabo-verdianos já foram premiados.
O objetivo do prêmio é valorizar um autor de língua portuguesa que tenha contribuído para o enriquecimento do patrimônio literário e cultural da língua comum.
Biografia
Raduan Nassar nasceu em Pindorama, Estado de São Paulo. Brasil, em 1935. Romancista e contista, é o sétimo filho do casal de libaneses, João Nassar e Chafika Cassis.
Iniciou os estudos na cidade natal, em 1943, e no ano seguinte, passou a frequentar, assiduamente, a Igreja, tornando-se coroinha, em 1946. Em 1955, entrou na Faculdade de Direito, do Largo São Francisco, e no Curso de Letras, ambos na Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
Em 1961, viajou para o Canadá e Estados Unidos, afastando-se temporariamente dos estudos e dos negócios da família e foi nessa época que escreveu o conto “Menina a Caminho”.
De volta ao Brasil, retomou o curso de Filosofia e o concluiu em 1963, mais tarde viajou para a Alemanha, com o objetivo de aprender o idioma local, mas retornou ao Brasil, após tomar conhecimento do golpe militar.
Antes, porém, visitou no Líbano a aldeia onde viveram seus pais.
