O pronome é a palavra na língua portuguesa que substitui o substantivo. Ele pode indicar a posição dele em relação às pessoas do discurso e também situá-lo no espaço e no tempo. Pode ser classificado em seis espécies: pessoal (reto, oblíquo e de tratamento), possessivo, demonstrativo, relativo, indefinido e interrogativo.
Quando na função demonstrativa, os pronomes “o, a, os, as” podem equivaler a “aquilo, aquele, aquelas, isso, essa etc.”, destaca Diogo Arrais, professor de Língua Portuguesa do Centro Preparatório Jurídico (CPJUR). Ele dá exemplos:
– A vida é uma tragédia para os que sentem e uma comédia para os que pensam.
“No uso de ‘os’ acima, percebemo-los como pronomes demonstrativos. Em outras palavras: A vida é uma tragédia para aqueles que sentem e uma comédia para aqueles que pensam”, explica o professor.
Ele detalha que como artigo definido, o pronome “os” pode fazer enorme diferença, por exemplo:
– Todo prédio será higienizado; e Todo o prédio será higienizado.
“Sem artigo, ‘todo’ é tomado na acepção de ‘cada um, qualquer’ – cada um dos prédios será higienizado. Com artigo, significa inteiro, total – o prédio inteiro será higienizado”, esmiúça Diogo Arrais.
Nomes próprios geográficos
Em se tratando de nomes próprios geográficos, o artigo só aparece quando esse nome o admitir obrigatoriamente. Veja exemplos:
– Todo o Brasil manifestou contra os aumentos nas tarifas aeroportuárias.
– Toda a Alemanha festejou o ano-novo.
Isso ocorre porque utilizamos “O Brasil” e “A Alemanha”, mas não “O Portugal” ou “A Paris”. Assim sendo:
– Todo Portugal pediu novas ações contra o terrorismo.
– Toda Paris se uniu diante da nova política social.
Por fim, em vez de utilizarmos a expressão “todos dois”, usemos o numeral “ambos”: – Há interesse na contratação de Sousa e Michel. Ambos jogam muito bem a Série A.
